Construction of the third 40,000 m3 tank

POT begins the implementation of the next state of its long-term investment program that covers a period until 2020.

A 40,000 m3 oil product storage tank will be built at POT and commissioned by the start of the summer navigation of 2012. Investments in the new facility will amount to approximately 25 million USD. It will be the third big oil product storage tank.
Thus, POT’s capacity of simultaneous oil product storage will amount to 394,000 m3. “Today we invest in reliable modern environmentally friendly technologies. I am sure they will bring a noticeable result,” commented Igor Teleshev, POT Director General, on the terminal’s new investment program.
The total approximate amount of POT’s investment program from 1996 to 2020 is 432 million USD. At present, 177 million USD have been spent.

Note:
In 2007, two 40,000 m3 oil product storage tanks were built on the newly built POT area. These tanks were much bigger than the then-existing terminal capacities, the biggest of which could hold 20,000 m3 oil products. The new tanks were built according to a two-wall technology, which was new for the terminal; their outside wall had a protective function. According to the experts, the advantages of this method include space ergonomics (easy construction of approaches and communications) and high environmental safety.
